| Obverse description | Printed in red and gold on a fine guilloche underprint, the obverse presents a full standing lion statue — drawn from the HSBC headquarters sculptures — at left, set against a stylised architectural rendering of the bank's main building. At centre-right, a large golden lion's head with flowing mane occupies the watermark window, framed by intricate lathe-work guilloche. The denomination, bilingual bank name, and promise-to-pay clause are rendered in intaglio lettering across the face. |
