Obverse description Red-dominant note centred on an intaglio vignette of the HSBC lion in full frontal stance with mouth closed, set against a fine guilloche underprint. The denomination numeral and bilingual bank title in English and Chinese occupy the upper register, while the promise-to-pay inscription and issue date are positioned in the lower portion of the design.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by an intaglio vignette of the Lantau Link infrastructure, with the Tsing Ma suspension bridge rendered in red line work across the right half of the note and a broader aerial perspective of the combined road and rail network occupying the central field. A multicolour latent-image rosette medallion with traditional Chinese cloud scroll motifs appears in the lower centre, flanked by the HSBC logotype at lower left and the denomination numeral 100 at lower right.
