| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central figure of a male weightlifter in dynamic crouching posture, arms fully extended overhead as he executes a clean-and-jerk lift with a heavily loaded barbell, rendered in bold relief. To the right of the athlete stands an Olympic torch with flame. The curved legend XXIII OLYMPIC GAMES arcs across the upper field, with 1984 descending along the right rim. The denomination 100 DOLLARS is inscribed in the lower field, with the engraver's initials ER appearing discreetly to the right of the numeral 100. |

Issued to mark the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, this coin was part of a wave of Pacific island gold commemoratives produced almost entirely for the collector export market — Solomon Islands had no meaningful domestic coin collector base at the time. The decision to issue gold Olympic pieces was essentially a revenue exercise, coordinated through international minting agencies rather than the Solomon Islands government acting independently.
KM#21 was struck at the Royal Australian Mint.
