Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile as a mature portrait, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The legend ELIZABETH II flanked by D•G•REGINA arcs around the upper field, with CANADA, the date 2017, and the denomination 100 DOLLARS positioned in the lower field. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a flat field, consistent with the standard Royal Canadian Mint commemorative obverse design used from 2003 onwards.

Reverse description The reverse of this diamond-shaped fine silver coin features a boldly engraved rendition of Superman's iconic shield emblem, centrally placed and dominating the entire field. Within the stylised 'S' of the shield, a carefully composed collage of scenes drawn from multiple Superman comic book eras is rendered in fine engraving and covered with transparent red enamel, allowing the engraved detail to remain visible beneath the vibrant coloured surface. A laser-applied halftone dot pattern fills the background surrounding the shield, evoking the graphic aesthetic of classic comic book printing. The trademark and copyright inscription appears in the lower field. The overall design concept and engraving are the work of Susan Taylor.
