Additional information

Niue's 1988 large-format silver issues were part of a wave of Pacific island commemoratives that exploited the territory's sovereign minting rights while targeting the international collector market almost exclusively. The Steffi Graf piece appeared at the peak of her dominance — she completed the Golden Slam that same year, winning all four Grand Slams plus Olympic gold at Seoul, the only player in history to accomplish this in a single calendar year.
