| Reverse description | A highly detailed, high-relief depiction of a large-headed extraterrestrial being in the foreground to the right, its oversized almond-shaped eyes rendered with colorized iridescent blue-green enamel to simulate an otherworldly appearance. To the left, a classic saucer-shaped flying craft is shown in dramatic low flight above a rocky desert landscape evoking the New Mexico terrain. The upper field background is fully colorized with a vivid cosmic nebula scene featuring swirling blues, purples, and teals set against a star-filled night sky. The incuse legend ROSWELL NEW MEXICO 1947 appears in the lower left field, commemorating the famous 1947 UFO incident. |

| Additional information |
Niue has long licensed its currency authority to private minting operations, and this piece is a product of that arrangement — a legal tender coin whose face value bears no relation to its bullion worth and whose connection to the island's 1,600 residents is purely administrative. The Roswell theme references the July 1947 incident in New Mexico, the 75th anniversary of which fell in 2022.
