| 背面描述 | A dynamic naval battle scene depicted within a compass-rose bordered circular frame, showing a large full-rigged pirate vessel flying a Jolly Roger at its foremast dominating the central field, with a second sailing ship under cannon fire visible to the right amid billowing smoke and explosive splashes on turbulent seas. In the lower field, a prominent skull-and-crossed-cutlasses motif rises from the waves, evoking the Jolly Roger iconography associated with the legendary pirate Mary Read. The legend MARY READ arcs across the upper right of the inner field, with the inscription 1 oz .9999 GOLD to the upper left, and the engraver's initials AWB appear to the lower right of the design. |

Mary Read sailed under Calico Jack Rackham's flag in the Caribbean during the early 1720s, one of the few women documented as an active crew member on a pirate vessel rather than a captive. When Rackham's sloop was taken by a Jamaican privateer in October 1720, Read was reportedly among the only crew still fighting — most of the men were below decks, drunk. She died in a Jamaican prison in 1721, likely of fever, before she could be hanged.
