附加信息

Barbados issued this coin in 1978 to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948. The declaration passed without a single dissenting vote — eight nations abstained, including the Soviet Union and South Africa — which lent the anniversary a particular political resonance for a newly independent Caribbean state still defining its place in the postcolonial order. Barbados had been independent for only twelve years when this coin was struck.

The .900 fineness places it in a transitional moment for Caribbean gold commemoratives, before the region largely standardized on .9999 fine issues through the 1980s.
