正面描述 Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, with drop earring and pearl necklace visible, after the effigy designed by Raphael David Maklouf. The truncation of the bust is clearly defined, and the portrait is rendered in fine relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The circumferential legend reads COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS, and the date 1991 appears in the lower exergue. A fine beaded border runs along the inner rim.

附加信息

Issued to mark the quincentenary of Columbus's 1492 landfall, which the Bahamas claimed — with reasonable geographic argument — as having occurred at San Salvador, the island the Taíno called Guanahani. The anniversary generated a wave of commemorative coinage across the Caribbean and Latin America through the early 1990s, most of it undistinguished.

The .900 fineness places it in the older gold standard rather than the .9999 fine issues that had become common by this period — a deliberate nod to historical coinage practice, or simply a cost calculation. KM#151 had a mintage of 500 pieces.
