Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse displays a broad gold annular field surrounding a central transparent domed window containing loose faceted gemstones, including rubies, sapphires, and diamonds, representative of the British Crown Jewels. The legend CROWN JEWELS arches across the upper field in raised Latin capitals beneath a row of pointed dentils. Flanking the central window in the lower field are crossed sceptres below, while to the left and right appear two raised depictions of royal crowns — St. Edward's Crown and the Imperial State Crown — accompanied by smaller regalia devices such as orbs. The inner and outer edges of the annular field are defined by beaded borders.

Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has issued commemorative gold under its own authority since the 1970s, despite having no domestic gold market — the coins are legal tender by statute but produced entirely for the collector trade, with the New Zealand government overseeing foreign affairs while Cook Islands retains full rights to its own currency law. This particular issue appeared during a surge in Crown Jewels-themed numismatic releases tied loosely to Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee year, when dozens of Commonwealth and associated territories rushed commemorative programs to market simultaneously.

KM#397 is a collector-only strike with no circulation history whatsoever.
