Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying the central field against a deeply mirrored proof background. The Queen is depicted wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, with finely engraved hair arranged in waves. The engraver's initials IRB appear in small capitals beneath the truncation of the neck. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II to the left and 100 DOLLARS COOK ISLANDS to the right, with the date 2019 positioned at the base of the coin.

Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has long operated as one of the more prolific issuers of large-format commemorative silver in the Pacific, producing pieces primarily for the collector market rather than any domestic monetary function. The 2019 Coronation centrepiece fits squarely into that tradition — the islands maintain a constitutional relationship with New Zealand that keeps Elizabeth II as head of state, giving the issue at least nominal jurisdictional legitimacy.

Elizabeth II's coronation took place on 2 June 1953, making 2019 the 66th anniversary — an unremarkable interval with no obvious commemorative logic, which tells you most of what you need to know about why this piece was struck.
