The C Series was the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority's first full series issued under its own name, following the transfer of currency responsibilities from the Currency Board in 1997. This particular one-signature variety reflects an early transitional moment in that institutional handover — subsequent notes in the same series carried two authorized signatures once internal authority structures were formalized.
Thomas De La Rue's involvement goes back to the earliest Cayman issues, making this a long-standing printing relationship rather than a one-off contract.
