The Cayman Islands Currency Board was established in 1972 following the territory's administrative separation from Jamaica, and this series reflects the currency board model in its most straightforward form — no central bank, no monetary policy discretion, just a fixed 1:1.2 peg to the US dollar that has held without interruption since introduction.
