Reverse description Dynamic depiction of Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare, rendered in high relief against a frosted field. The goddess is portrayed in three-quarter stance wearing classical Greek armour including an elaborately crested Corinthian helmet, and holds a long spear diagonally across the composition in her left hand while extending a large ornately decorated round shield in her right. A great owl, sacred symbol of Athena, is shown in flight to the upper left, and a serpent coils at her feet to the lower right, with the Parthenon and ancient Greek architectural elements rendered in lower relief in the background. The name ATHENA is inscribed in bold serif letters along the lower exergue, and the Perth Mint privy mark P appears to the upper left of the design.
