The "Little Hero" belongs to Perth Mint's ongoing bullion program that periodically features native fauna, in this case targeting the collector-investor crossover market that has driven Australian gold bullion premiums steadily higher since the 1980s kangaroo series established the template. Perth's .9999 fineness has been a deliberate commercial differentiator against the South African Krugerrand's .9167 standard since Australia entered the sovereign bullion market.
Elizabeth II's sixth and final effigy — sculpted by Jody Clark — appeared on Australian coinage only briefly before her death in September 2022 made all such issues transitional by definition.
