Australia's gold koala bullion series has run since 1980, making it one of the longer-lived nationally-issued gold programs still in production. Unlike the Kangaroo series, which also changes its reverse design annually, the Koala was originally conceived as a distinct collector-bullion crossover — a distinction that has blurred considerably over four decades of continuous issue.
The 6th portrait of Elizabeth II, by sculptor Jody Clark, was adopted by the Perth Mint beginning with 2019-dated issues.
