Additional information

Australia's gold koala bullion series has run continuously since 1980, but the design rotates annually — meaning no two years share the same reverse, a deliberate policy by the Perth Mint to encourage year-on-year collector demand alongside pure bullion buyers. The 2019 issue falls under the sixth effigy of Elizabeth II, the Jody Clark portrait introduced to Australian coinage in 2019, making this one of the first Perth Mint gold issues to carry it.

The .9999 fineness exceeds the older .9990 standard that defined the series through most of the 1980s and 1990s, a refinement the Perth Mint adopted to compete directly with the Royal Canadian Mint's Maple Leaf program.
