Additional information

The Perth Mint's emu bullion series occupies an unusual position in Australian coinage: the emu is one of the few large ratite birds to appear on a nationally issued bullion program, yet it remains perpetually overshadowed by the Mint's own Kangaroo series, which has run continuously since 1986. The 6th Portrait transition to Jody Clark's effigy of Elizabeth II — adopted by Perth slightly later than the Royal Mint's own rollout — coincided with a period of record gold demand driven by pandemic-era economic uncertainty, with the Perth Mint reporting unprecedented retail sales volumes through mid-2020.
