Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a highly detailed, finely engraved bust of an Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) in left profile, its sharply hooked beak slightly open and its plumage rendered with exceptional sculptural depth across the neck and breast feathers. The design, attributed to engraver Jennifer McKenna whose initials 'JM' appear in the lower central field, fills the majority of the coin's surface. The curved legend 'AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE' arcs across the upper periphery, while the lower exergue carries the inscriptions '2022 1oz 9995 PLATINUM'. The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark is positioned to the right of the design within the inner border.

Aanvullende informatie

Australia's Wedge-Tailed Eagle platinum bullion series has been issued by the Perth Mint since 1987, making it one of the longest-running platinum bullion programs of any sovereign mint. The 6th portrait of Elizabeth II — sculpted by Jody Clark and adopted by Australian coinage in 2015 — appears here in what became, following her death in September 2022, one of the final years of issue before the transition to Charles III effigies.

Perth's .9995 platinum specification exceeds the .9990 purity standard used by most competing programs, a deliberate positioning decision the mint has maintained consistently across the series.
