Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim, while AUSTRALIA and the date 2003 appear along the right rim. The designer's initials IRB are incused below the portrait truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a polished field, characteristic of bullion coin production.

The denomination 100 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim in bold sans-serif lettering. The engraver's initials HH, for Horst Hahne, appear to the lower left of the floral motif. A fine beaded border frames the entire reverse design.
