| Reverse description | Two koalas — a mother and her joey — are depicted resting together in the fork of a eucalyptus tree, rendered in exceptional high-relief detail by engraver Elise Martinson. Pendant eucalyptus branches with elongated leaves frame the upper field, while the trunk and foliage fill the lower and lateral areas of the design. The inscription 1oz 9999 GOLD appears in the lower exergue, and the Perth Mint's P mintmark is visible at the right inner border. The deeply mirrored proof fields contrast sharply with the frosted device surfaces, accentuating the naturalistic texture of the animals' fur. |
