Additional information

Perth Mint introduced high-relief gold proof technology to its bullion-adjacent premium issues in the early 2010s, borrowing production methods originally developed for ancient coinage — specifically the multi-strike pressing under higher tonnage that pulls metal into deeply recessed dies. The result is a cartwheel-flat field with subject matter that rises sharply from the surface, impossible to achieve in a single strike.

The 2015 date places this within Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait tenure, which ran from 1998 until Jody Clark's effigy was adopted by Australian mints from 2019 onward.
