Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 100 DOLLARS IRB
Reverse description The reverse presents a finely engraved scene of two nineteenth-century gold prospectors engaged in alluvial mining, part of the Australian Prospector Series designed by Stuart Devlin. The left figure, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, operates a wooden cradle rocker, while the right figure pours ore from a bag into a prospecting pan set on the ground before him. The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark appears in the lower right field. The arcing legend 'THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET 1 OZ. 9999 GOLD' surrounds the upper and right portions of the design, with the series designation 'Australian Prospector Series' inscribed in a smaller script within the upper field, and the date '2002' prominently displayed in the lower exergue, all within a beaded border.
