Obverse description The third portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Raphael Maklouf, is depicted in right-facing profile, wearing the elaborate George IV State Diadem Crown, a drop earring, and a pearl necklace. The refined, idealized bust is rendered with fine detail in the hair and crown floral ornaments, set against a polished field. A border of evenly spaced beads encircles the design. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper left field, AUSTRALIA arcs across the upper right, and the denomination 100 DOLLARS appears in two lines at the lower centre, with the engraver's initials RDM discretely incorporated.

Reverse description A finely detailed portrait of an adult koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) is depicted seated in a eucalyptus tree, facing the viewer with characteristic large ears and prominent nose, its clawed forepaws gripping the branches. Sprigs of eucalyptus foliage frame the composition on either side. The legend THE AUSTRALIAN KOALA curves along the upper periphery, followed by the purity and weight designation 1 OZ 9995 PLATINUM. The date 1992 appears at the base flanked by two raised dots, and the engraver's initials JB are incused at the lower left of the central design.
