Tokelau has become a reliable vehicle for New Zealand-administered bullion and collector issues, with the territory itself — three atolls with a combined population under 1,500 — having no independent monetary authority or minting infrastructure of its own. These coins are produced under arrangement with New Zealand and struck by external mints, making the issuing jurisdiction largely nominal.
