Niue has operated as a bullion and collector coin licensing hub since the 1990s, issuing coins under New Zealand's currency umbrella while contracting production almost entirely to private mints — in this case almost certainly the Perth Mint or a comparable facility. The arrangement is straightforwardly commercial: Niue's name on the obverse satisfies legal tender requirements, while the actual design program is driven by the commissioning distributor.
Spinosaurus aegyptiacus was first described by Ernst Stromer in 1915 from Egyptian material that was destroyed in a 1944 Allied bombing raid on Munich.
