| Reverse description | A colorized depiction of the iconic Space Invaders arcade game screen, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the franchise. The central field features rows of pixel-art alien invaders rendered in multicolor enamel — green, cyan, and pink — arranged in formation above four red enemy characters at the base, all set against a black background. The '45' anniversary logo appears in gold on both the left and right sides of the field, flanked by pixel-art imagery. The legend 'SPACE INVADERS' arcs prominently in stylized gold lettering at the top, the denomination '$100' appears in a gold cartouche at the bottom, the copyright inscription '©TAITO CORPORATION 1978, 2023 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.' runs along the lower left periphery, and the fineness '.999' is noted along the lower right periphery. |

| Additional information |
Space Invaders, developed by Tomohiro Nishikado and released by Taito in 1978, was the game that effectively launched the golden age of arcade gaming — and, famously, caused a temporary coin shortage in Japan as players drained 100-yen pieces faster than the mint could replenish them. Cook Islands has been issuing licensed pop-culture bullion and numismatic pieces for decades, operating under arrangements that make its royal mint relationship largely nominal; the islands' coinage program is administered almost entirely through external distributors targeting collector markets rather than domestic circulation.
