| Obverse description | Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III, portrayed at 74 years of age, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail to the facial features, collar, and jacket. The king's portrait occupies the central field, with the legend CHARLES III arcing along the left rim and D·G·REX along the right rim, both in raised capital letters. The denomination 100 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim beneath the portrait. The engraver's initials appear in small characters at the lower right of the portrait. The overall design is executed in a contemporary, naturalistic style befitting a proof gold issue. |
