Obverse description Right-facing effigy of King Charles III rendered in high relief against a burnished field, depicting the monarch in a suit and tie without a crown or diadem, consistent with the first official Royal Canadian Mint portrait of Charles III. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the left periphery and D·G·REX along the right, with the denomination 100 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower arc. The engraver's initials appear discreetly on the truncation of the portrait.

Additional information

The Maple Leaf series has been the Royal Canadian Mint's flagship bullion program since 1979, when Canada became the first country to challenge the Krugerrand's near-total dominance of the gold bullion market. The .9999 fineness standard — introduced in 1982, ahead of most competitors — remains one of the series' defining commercial arguments.

Charles III's effigy appears here for only the second year of his reign, following the formal portrait transition from Elizabeth II that took effect across RCM issues in 2024.
