Perth Mint's lunar series has run continuously since 1996, making the 2026 Horse issue part of the third full twelve-year cycle. The high-relief format used here requires multiple strikes at lower die speeds — a process Perth has refined considerably since adopting it broadly in the 2010s, and one that places exceptional stress on dies, limiting effective production runs per pair.
Charles III's first portrait on Australian coinage, sculpted by King's official effigy artist Davina di Sambuy, was introduced following the King's accession in September 2022.
