| Aanvullende informatie |
The Welcome Stranger, found near Moliagul in Victoria in February 1869 by John Deason and Richard Oates, remains the largest alluvial gold nugget ever recorded at 2,316 troy ounces. It was so large it had to be broken with a blacksmith's hammer before it could fit on the scales at the Bank of Victoria in Dunolui. Melted within days of discovery, no physical trace survives — making it permanently a subject of documentation rather than display.
This is also the first Perth Mint bullion issue to carry the effigy of Charles III, replacing the long-running Jody Clark portrait of Elizabeth II used on the series since 2015.
