The chimera — lion's head, goat's body, serpent's tail — originated in Lycian tradition before Homer fixed it in the Iliad as a divine, fire-breathing obstacle slain by Bellerophon. Perth's Mythical Creatures series has worked this territory before, rotating through figures from Greek, Chinese, and Norse traditions with enough commercial consistency to have built a genuine secondary market for the set. This is the first in the series to carry Charles III's effigy following the transition from Elizabeth II, making it the inaugural portrait change within the run.
