Beschrijving voorzijde High-relief effigy of King Charles III facing left, uncrowned and in civilian dress, rendered with fine detail in the first portrait of the monarch used on Australian coinage, sculpted by Dominic Thomas. The legend CHARLES III arcs across the upper field with AUSTRALIA continuing along the right periphery, both separated from the portrait by a frosted border. The denomination 100 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower arc, flanked by raised dots, with the engraver's initials DT incuse at the base of the truncation. The deep mirrored field contrasts sharply with the finely textured portrait, enhancing the high-relief presentation.

Aanvullende informatie

The Australian Koala gold series has been running since 1986, but the shift to high-relief striking represents a meaningful technical departure — high-relief dies require slower, multi-strike pressing and wear out far faster than standard production dies, which keeps annual mintages tightly constrained. This is also the first year the series carries the Ian Rank-Broadley replacement portrait of Charles III by Jody Clark, following the Queen's death in September 2022.
