| Beschrijving voorzijde | High-relief effigy of Liberty in left-facing profile, depicted as an African-American woman wearing a radiate crown of stars, rendered in a neoclassical style evocative of the Statue of Liberty. The legend LIBERTY appears prominently in the upper field, flanked by the dual commemorative dates 1792 and 2017 at the sides, referencing the 225th anniversary of the United States Mint. The motto IN GOD WE TRUST is inscribed in the lower field, with the designer's initials JK and PH appearing near the truncation of the bust. The high-relief striking technique imparts exceptional sculptural depth to the portrait. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bald eagle rendered in high relief is depicted in dynamic flight, facing right with both wings swept downward in a powerful soaring posture and the beak slightly open. The surrounding legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs across the upper field, while E PLURIBUS UNUM appears within the design. The specifications 1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD and the denomination 100 DOLLARS are inscribed in the lower field, accompanied by the West Point Mint mark W and the designer's initials MG and CTC. The naturalistic rendering of the eagle's plumage demonstrates the sculptural quality characteristic of this high-relief issue. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark the 225th anniversary of the United States Mint itself, established by the Coinage Act of April 2, 1792. The design broke from a long institutional habit of depicting Liberty as a white European female — this was the first in what the Mint positioned as an ongoing series reimagining Liberty across different American ethnicities and backgrounds. Mintage was capped at 50,000 pieces.
The .9999 fineness distinguishes it from the standard American Gold Eagle, which runs at .9167. Struck at West Point.
