Obverse description Printed in green and red, the note carries the Royal Arms vignette at upper centre, flanked by the inscription INCORPORATED BY ROYAL CHARTER in an arc, with denomination counters reading $100 at upper left and upper right within ornate guilloche cartouches. A large red underprint numeral 100 occupies the centre of the note, overlaid by the promise-to-pay text in italic script, with multilingual border inscriptions in Tamil, Malay (Jawi), and Chinese along the margins and lower panel reading PENANG.

Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is composed of an elaborate engine-turned guilloche framework with the bank title THE CHARTERED BANK OF INDIA, AUSTRALIA AND CHINA arching across the centre around an ornate lozenge-shaped guilloche panel inscribed ONE HUNDRED. A crowned circular vignette appears at upper centre, a sailing ship vignette at lower centre, and small elephant and bovine vignettes are set into the left and right inner borders respectively, with denomination text ONE HUNDRED and numerals 100 repeated in all four corners.
