The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank's switch to polymer for this denomination followed a regional push to reduce counterfeiting losses across its eight-member currency union — Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines all share the same note. That makes the ECCB one of the few genuinely multi-sovereign central banks operating a single physical currency without a dominant partner state.
De La Rue's polymer substrate here is their Safeguard® product, distinct from Guardian® polymer used by other issuers — the transparent window is integral to the substrate rather than applied as an overlay.
