Obverse description At left, a frosted maple leaf-shaped transparent window is set into the polymer substrate, with the denomination printed below it. The central vignette presents an intaglio portrait of Sir Robert Laird Borden, Prime Minister of Canada from 1911 to 1920. At right, a vertical see-through holographic strip carries a secondary portrait of Borden at the top, a vignette of the East Block of Parliament in Ottawa at the bottom, and repeated denomination numerals with translucent text throughout, its border composed of a row of stylised maple leaves; the far right edge bears the denomination and issue year.
