Bradbury Wilkinson printed the entire first dollar series for the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago following its establishment in 1964, and this 1977 issue belongs to a run that changed remarkably little in design or technical specification over nearly two decades. The 100-dollar denomination was the highest face value in the series, which kept it largely out of everyday retail circulation — by the mid-1970s, oil revenues from the OPEC price shock had driven significant liquidity into the Trinidad economy, yet large-denomination notes remained primarily a banking instrument.
Bradbury Wilkinson was absorbed by De La Rue in 1990, ending a printing relationship with the Caribbean region that stretched back to the British colonial currency boards.
