Siemens Nixdorf produced these Testgeld pieces for calibrating and stress-testing their cash-handling machinery — ATMs, counting equipment, sorting systems — during development and quality control cycles. They were never intended to leave the factory floor, which is precisely why they surface so rarely in collector hands. The paper composition and physical dimensions were engineered to replicate the mechanical behavior of genuine Bundesbank notes under repeated machine feed conditions, not to circulate.
No serial number sequence was tracked. Survival is entirely accidental.
