| Additional information |
Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of the Dubai Ports and Customs Department, this coin commemorates an institution that by 1999 had already positioned Jebel Ali — opened in 1979 — as the largest man-made harbour in the world and a central node in global container shipping. The piece belongs to a broader programme of UAE commemorative silver issues bearing Zayed's name that proliferated through the 1990s, several of which saw limited secondary market uptake despite modest mintages.
