The 2025 issue marks the UAE's first domestic production of a circulating polymer banknote, printed by Oumolat Security Printing LLC — a facility established specifically to bring currency manufacturing onshore and reduce dependence on foreign security printers. That shift is the real story here. Gulf states have historically contracted printing to De La Rue, Giesecke+Devrient, or similar European houses; moving production to Abu Dhabi is a deliberate strategic decision, not a routine retooling.
Safeguard™ polymer substrate, developed by CCL Secure, is the same platform used by the Australian and Canadian series.
