| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device depicts the arms of Sharjah: two crossed flags flanking a central palm tree, all enclosed within a wreath of olive branches. The Gregorian date 1970 and the Hijri date 1389 appear on either side of the palm tree within the central device. The Arabic legend حكومة الشارقة (State of Sharjah) arcs along the upper right in Arabic script, while the Latin legend STATE OF SHARJAH curves along the upper left. The denomination 1 S. RIYAL appears in the lower field in Latin characters, with the fineness indicator [1000] in an oval cartouche to the lower right, and the Arabic equivalent ١٠٠ درهم = ١ ريال inscribed within the central wreath. The coin is bordered by a beaded rim. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a high-relief numismatic rendition of Leonardo da Vinci's celebrated painting La Gioconda (Mona Lisa), depicting the three-quarter bust of a seated woman with long flowing hair, her hands folded before her, set against a textured landscape field. Small olive branch sprigs flank the lower portion of the figure at the left and right. Along the lower arc of the beaded rim, the Italian legend LA GIOCONDA appears to the left and the Arabic equivalent الچُكوندَا to the right, separated by a dash, identifying the subject as the world-famous masterpiece. |
