Aanvullende informatie

Algeria's 100 dinar bimetallic coinage was introduced in the early 1990s as the country descended into the civil conflict known as the Black Decade — a period of acute economic disruption during which the government suspended elections in January 1992 following the FIS electoral victory, triggering a brutal insurgency. Issuing a stable, hard-to-counterfeit bimetallic coin during this period was partly a practical response to the erosion of public confidence in Algerian monetary institutions.

The 2002 date places this piece near the tail end of the worst violence, as the government's amnesty programs began to take hold.
