Reverse description A raised outline map of the Arab World occupies the upper field. At centre, a circular cartouche bears the Arabic calligraphic inscription 'Qadisiyat Saddam' in ornate script. Flanking the central cartouche are paired dates in both the Hijri and Gregorian calendars: AH 1400 / AD 1980 to the left, and AH 15 / AD 636 to the right, the latter commemorating the original Battle of al-Qadisiyyah. The Arabic legend 'Al-Jumhuriyya al-Iraqiyya' (Republic of Iraq) appears along the lower rim, with the HF mintmark of the Huguenin Frères mint, Le Locle, Switzerland, at the lower left.
