The "Coup d'état" designation here refers to the November 7, 1987 removal of Habib Bourguiba by Prime Minister Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, carried out without bloodshed under a constitutional provision declaring the president medically unfit to govern. Ben Ali's government consistently rebranded the event as a "Change" rather than a coup — the Arabic legend on this piece reflects that official framing.
