100 Dinara Winter Olympics 1984 - Ice Hockey

Yugoslavia hosted the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics — the first Winter Games held in a socialist country — and issued an extended commemorative series beginning in 1982, two full years before the torch was lit. Ice hockey at Sarajevo drew particular Cold War attention given the Soviet Union's dominance of the sport and the political tensions still raw after the 1980 Lake Placid "Miracle on Ice."

The Sarajevo Games themselves were the last major international event held in the city before the 1992 siege reduced much of its infrastructure to rubble.
