Comments

The Auto-moto savez Jugoslavije was the Yugoslav automobile and motorcycle federation, not a bank or state treasury — which makes this note a genuine curiosity. It was issued as a motorway voucher, part of a fuel coupon and road service prepayment system that operated in Yugoslavia during the late 1970s and early 1980s, when foreign visitors in particular used such instruments to pre-purchase services along the federal highway network.

These were functional scrip, not legal tender, redeemable through the AMSJ's affiliated service network. Survival rate is low — they were meant to be spent, not saved.
