Obverse description Bare-headed, right-facing effigy of Emperor Francis Joseph I, rendered in high relief with finely detailed facial features including a prominent mutton-chop beard and mustache characteristic of his later portraits. The truncation of the bust is sharply defined, with the engraver's signature ST. SCHWARTZ inscribed in small capitals along the lower truncation. A continuous Latin legend encircles the effigy, separated from the rim by a border of raised beads. The portrait reflects the restrained Neo-Classical style favored by the Vienna Mint in the late imperial period.
