Nicaragua's Banco Nacional held a near-total monopoly on the country's financial system through the 1930s — it was simultaneously the central bank, the commercial bank, and the government's fiscal agent, a concentration of function that reflected U.S. influence over Nicaraguan institutions following the long period of American financial intervention that began in 1912. This note was printed by ABNC during a period when the córdoba had been pegged to the U.S. dollar since 1912 at a fixed rate of one-to-one.
ABNC's work for the Banco Nacional across the 1930s series is consistent in technical quality, with intaglio printing on both faces. P#69 is the highest denomination in the 1939 issue.
