Reverse description Printed in dark blue-grey, the centre presents an intaglio vignette of the Juan Santamaría monument framed by trees and open sky, with the hero's name inscribed on the pedestal base. Large guilloche rosettes bearing the numeral 100 and the currency symbol C anchor the left and right margins, with foliate ornamental columns to each side. The bank title in gothic script runs along the upper border, CIEN COLONES appears in bold letterpress across the lower register, and the Waterlow & Sons Limited imprint is positioned at the foot.
